WATCH LIVE: Trump delivers his first State of the Union address

2018-01-31

President Trump is delivering his first State of the Union address to the nation.

The speech will wrap up President Trump’s first year in office, and he’s likely to tout the above-average economic performance during that time.

The commander-in-chief will also set the tone for his second year. He’s likely to address immigration reform and a massive infrastructure investment plan, which failed to get off the ground in year one.

Trump, speaking Monday, said he’ll also make a plea to Democrats to work with him on immigration, because he won’t be able to do it with just Republican votes.

Several lawmakers, including Reps. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), will skip out on the nationally televised address as a sign of protest.

Other Democrats plan to use their one guest each to pack the House gallery with so-called Dreamers — undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. at a young age.
