The return trip to Wakanda is going to take a while.

“Black Panther” fans eagerly awaiting the sequel received harsh news Saturday that they must wait nearly three more years for the next chapter in the futuristic superhero saga.

At Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif., Marvel Studios announced “Black Panther 2” will hit theaters May 6, 2022.

Although details were agonizingly scarce, “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler is back on board to direct the second installment.

Fans on Twitter were quick to vent their frustration.

“Jesus. A 4-year wait for ‘Black Panther 2.’ Chadwick (Boseman) was late 30s when he was cast as Black Panther,” griped Twitter user Jack Burton. “By the time (‘Black Panther 2’) comes out he’s gonna be on the later end of his 40s. Jeez. At this rate he’s gonna be 50 by the time (‘Black Panther 3’) comes out.”

Ian Banks succinctly tweeted, “I really have to wait basically 3 years for the next ‘Black Panther,’ I’m sick.”
