Vegas gives Kevin Durant’s agent ridiculous shot at becoming next Knicks GM

February 12, 2019

While his star client becomes roiled if you utter “Knicks” in his presence, lifelong Orange and Blue fan Richard Kleiman likely would welcome it.

Kleiman, Kevin Durant’s agent and Thirty Five Media business partner, did after all tweet last February that he’s going to “run the Knicks one day,” and while the native New Yorker later cautioned in an interview with The Athletic that he’s “not after Steve Mills’ job,” Vegas isn’t totally buying that last part.

The sportsbook Bovada gives the 41-year-old Kleiman a four percent chance of morphing into the next Knicks general manager (-2500 he won’t become GM, +800 he will, for those eyeing a safe bet; and don’t worry, the odds of Durant calling MSG home next season are a bit higher.)

It seems the laughable listing popped up in the aftermath of last week’s stunner that sent Kristaps Porzingis south to Dallas and opened up two max contract spots, an obvious signal the Knicks are going all-in to land Durant and another top free agent — Kyrie Irving appears to be a top target — in July.

Last summer, Kleiman curiously pushed for color commentator Mark Jackson to supersede the pink-slipped Jeff Hornacek as the Knicks head coach, The New York Times reported, raising eyebrows around the league.

That of course never materialized, but who knows, perhaps this time next year Kleiman will be calling the shots… though he probably has a better chance of hitting a full-court shot, blindfolded, and with an arm behind his back.
