Two men and a woman charged in NYC postal worker’s Staten Island beatdown

Two men and a woman have been charged with beating a U.S. Postal Service worker to the ground as he delivered the mail on Staten Island earlier this month.

Police arrested Ahmad Omar, 22, and Douina Alrobaee, 23, on Tuesday, accusing them of carrying out the April 7 assault. The third suspect, Michael McLaughlin, 23, surrendered to police Thursday.

Police released images of three suspects accused of beating a postal worker.

The trio were strangers to the 47-year-old postal worker. They started arguing with him outside a deli on Guyon Ave. near North Railroad Ave. in Oakland Heights, police said.

One of the attackers lunged and knocked the victim to the ground, police said. Omar punched the postal worker in the head several times, while Alrobaee rained punches on his head and body, according to a criminal complaint.

McLaughlin is accused of punching the victim in the ribs.

The attack left the victim with a swollen head, a scraped shoulder and a torn ligament in his left thumb, according to the complaint.

Omar and Alrobaee were arraigned on misdemeanor assault and harassment charges and released on their own recognizance. Their lawyer did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

McLaughlin, who faces similar charges, awaits arraignment in Staten Island Criminal Court.
