Two children shot in North Carolina road-rage incident

A brother and sister were both shot Saturday afternoon in a road-rage incident between their father and another man.

Byron Donnell Green, 41, was arrested for shooting the 9-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl, who were both hospitalized with their injuries, according to a police report obtained by the Daily News.

It’s unclear what precipitated the shooting but the Surry County Sheriff’s Office called it “a road-rage type altercation.”

The 7-year-old underwent surgery and was in stable condition at Brenner’s Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. Her brother was discharged.

Green was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, one count of discharge a weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury, one count of assault by pointing a gun.

He is being held on a $600,000 bond and due back in court in June.
