Trump vows to release ‘unedited’ transcript of crucial call with Ukraine leader at heart of whistleblower complaint

President Trump agreed Tuesday to release a full transcript of his call with the president of Ukraine that sparked a whistleblower’s explosive compaint and a flood of new demands for his impeachment.

Trump claimed the “unredacted” text of the call would clear him of allegations that he used the threat of cutting off military assistance to gain the Ukraine leader’s help to smear rival Joe Biden.

“It was a totally appropriate call,” he wrote on Twitter. “No pressure and, unlike Joe Biden and his son, NO quid pro quo!”

....You will see it was a very friendly and totally appropriate call. No pressure and, unlike Joe Biden and his son, NO quid pro quo! This is nothing more than a continuation of the Greatest and most Destructive Witch Hunt of all time!

The presidential gambit came as a flood of Democratic lawmakers demanded that Congress start impeachment proceedings over the new abuse of power allegations.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi planned a late afternoon statement but there was no indication whether she would drop her longstanding opposition to an impeachment probe.
