Trump says Mexico will 'enjoy' paying for border wall, Nieto disagrees

President Trump pledged again Tuesday night that Mexico will pay for his border wall, despite the country's repeated insistence that it will never happen.

Trump, addressing a boisterous crowd at a Nashville rally, repeatedly said he did not want to cause problems with the southern neighbor.

But he blasted the nation anyway.

"They are going to pay for the wall and they are going to enjoy it," Trump said.

Mexico is making "all of this money," Trump jeered, and doing "absolutely nothing to stop" an influx of immigrants from Central America.

As he began his return trip to Washington, Trump's Mexican counterpart fired back with a pair of bilingual tweets.

"NO. Mexico will NEVER pay for a wall. Not now, not ever," President Enrique Nieto wrote, in both English and Spanish. "Sincerely, Mexico (all of us)."

Trump's campaign promise to build the wall has strained relations between the two nations and impacted North American Free Trade Agreement talks.
