Emojis are becoming even more inclusive.
The roster of electronic symbolic characters — which has expanded in recent years to include more races and gender options — now includes disability icons. And if you ask some, there’s also one that represents a “tiny penis.”
An emoji of a hand with the thumb and index finger closing in on each other, with the three other fingers curled back, is being interpreted as a sign for an embarrassingly small male sex organ.
“The inclusivity in this series is guh-reat, but the real winner is the 'you have a tiny penis' emoji,” one Twitter user wrote.
This emoji, one of 230 new ones for 2019 approved by the non-profit organization Unicode Consortium, is described as a “pinching hand” by Emojipedia, which documents the meaning of emojis. The gesture is commonly used to represent a small amount of something.
But others are taking it to mean something very specific.
“Finally a Tiny Penis Emoji,” another user Tweeted.
Other new emojis will include a person gesturing to their ear to indicate deafness, an ear with a hearing aid, people in both motorized and manual wheelchairs, and figures walking with the help of a cane.
There will also be some fun new animal emojis like a sloth, skunk and otter, and foods including falafel and waffles.
