A 16-year-old fell off the roof of a Hell’s Kitchen building Monday afternoon and survived despite smashing into a concrete courtyard five stories below, police said.
The teen, identified by his mother as Moussa Cisse, suffered traumatic injuries and was rushed in critical condition to Bellevue Hospital.
He broke his eye socket, foot and jaw — and lost all his teeth, police said.
His mother said Moussa is in the intensive care unit.
“He fell from the roof,” said his distraught parent.
We don’t know what he was doing up there,” she added.
“There are no cameras,” the mom said. “We don’t know what happened.”
The incident happened just past noon as the teen was trying to cross from one building to another on W. 47th St. near 10th Ave.
Police said the teen walked over a wire netting between two buildings, but that it gave way and he fell.
The mother, who would not give her name, said her son attends school in Brooklyn and the family lives in Harlem.
“He is in the ICU,” she said. “The doctor says he’s going to live.”
Residents at the 5-story building on West 47th St. said they’d never seen the young man before.
“It's a shame that somebody got hurt," one resident said. "I don't know what he was doing.”
Another neighbor said the incident was shocking and scary.
"I have a 17-year-old niece and a 19-year-old nephew, so it’s terrible,” the resident said.
