A 16-year-old bicyclist was critically injured when she was struck by a car in Staten Island, cops said Sunday.
The girl, pedaling west on New Dorp Lane, was hit by a 2017 Kia headed in the opposite direction when she tried to make a left turn onto Titus Ave. around 4:10 p.m. Saturday, cops said.
The teen was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North in critical condition. Her name was not released.
The driver remained at the scene and was not immediately charged.
Twenty-one bicyclists have died while riding in the city so far this year compared to 10 in all of 2018, prompting an outcry from cycling advocates.
