An SUV jumped the curb and killed an older woman on the sidewalk before piling into nearby scaffolding on the Upper East Side, police and witnesses said.

The driver lost control of a Range Rover with a handicapped sticker in the window and struck the pedestrian at 79th St. and Madison Ave. about 3:30 p.m.

The SUV had been turning left from Madison on to E. 79th St, cops said.

The SUV, which has New Jersey license plates, then rammed into the scaffolding.

“This is the second fatal accident on this corner in the last five years,” a bystander said.

Dr. Jeffrey Start, who lives across from the crash scene, said yellow barricades at the intersection make the turn tighter than in the past. “They’ve changed all the traffic patterns on this street in the past year, very dangerous,” he said.
