Eleven people were shot, two of them fatally, inside a crowded South Carolina bar early Saturday morning.
Gunfire broke out around 2:45 a.m. inside the Ole Skool Sports Bar & Grill in Lancaster, located about 45 miles south of Charlotte. Police said a large group of people were inside at the time and the sudden shots sent them fleeing for the exit.
“This was a violent incident of huge magnitude that was witnessed by lots of people,” Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said in a statement.
“The shooter or shooters are out there. We need to talk with everybody who was in the club when the shooting happened, and I encourage those witnesses to contact us immediately so those responsible for these deaths can be taken into custody.”
Four victims were airlifted to medical centers for treatment and another four were treated for noncritical injuries.
The two people fatally struck amid the shooting were both adult males, according a press release from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. The names and ages of those killed and injured have not been released.
An eleventh and final victim was treated and released for minor injuries sustained as they attempted to flee the chaos.
It’s unclear how many suspects were involved in the deadly incident. Police told The Lancaster News that they do have a lead “concerning the identity of the shooter” but no arrests have been made in the case.
