It almost became New York fried chicken, but an Ossining police officer saved its life.
Officer Patrick McGovern reported to a shed fire near a residential property on Saturday and didn’t leave empty-handed — he saved a chicken.
“He smartly removed a couple of propane tanks before they could compound the danger and swiftly went on to rescue … a chicken,” the Ossining Police Department wrote to Facebook.
Bodycam footage, which has been viewed over 10,000 times, showed the cop’s heroic actions.
McGovern saved the clucking chicken by picking him up with his two hands and carrying him to safety.
“I got your chicken,” McGovern can be heard saying in the video.
And now, McGovern’s coworkers are roasting him.
“If you ever wanted to get a hard time from your coworkers, be a hero... to a chicken,” the police department wrote to social media.
