His life was hanging in the balance.
A Florida man had a terror-filled first flight on a hang glider while on vacation in Switzerland after his instructor failed to attach his safety harness.
Chris Gursky posted the video of the scary two-minute flight on Monday, and it has already been viewed more than 1.5 million times on YouTube.
“Warning: Content may be disturbing to some. Including my wife!” read a humorous introduction to the video in large letters.
The trouble starts immediately after the running takeoff for Gursky, who struggled to hold onto the instructor and the glider bar while soaring high in the sky.
“Thinking … nice view … I’m gonna die!” Gursky wrote over the video.
The instructor tried to land quickly, but could not control the glider, and Gursky said he had difficulty holding onto the bar.
Finally, after several minutes, the glider descends, and Gursky jumps off while several feet off the ground. He ended up breaking his wrist and needing surgery.
“I also tore my left bicep tendon from holding on as long as I did,” he wrote. “It beats the alternative.”
He noted that it was the first day of their vacation in Switzerland.
