SEE IT: Joaquin Phoenix’s creepy clown has nothing but ‘negative thoughts’ in new ‘Joker’ trailer

Joaquin Phoenix stars as the title character in "Joker." (Warner Bros.)

Get ready to be creeped out.

A freaky new trailer for the upcoming “Joker” movie provides another glimpse into the sad life of the title character before he transforms into Gotham’s most notorious villain.

“You just asking the same questions every week,” Joaquin Phoenix, who stars as the Joker, tells a woman appearing to be his therapist. “How’s your job? Are you having any negative thoughts? All I have are negative thoughts.”

The nearly two and a half minute promo also shows Phoenix’s character ? an aspiring comedian ? get antagonized on TV by a host played by Robert De Niro. Later, he takes part in a movement in which demonstrators don clown masks.

It’s the second and final trailer for the film. It comes a little under five months after the first trailer , which dropped in early April.

“I used to think that my life was a tragedy,” Phoenix intoned in that first one. “But now I realize it’s a comedy.”

“Joker” hits theaters Oct. 4.
