SEE IT: First ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ trailer sets up the fight of a lifetime
“The Rise of Skywalker” promises the beginning of the end.
The first trailer for Episode IX, released early Monday morning, sets the stage for a final showdown with a history of the epic saga, scenes from a lifetime of lightsabers.
“We’ve passed on all we know," Luke says in a voiceover. "A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.”
The two-minute trailer rushes through a bevy of new shots, including a duel between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega) and Jannah (Naomi Ackie) in the cockpit, a glimpse of the late Carrie Fisher and, most importantly, a hooded Rey with a red double-sided lightsaber.
The conclusion of the nine-film saga, which began with “A New Hope” in 1977, also stars Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Ian McDiarmid, Richard E. Grant and Keri Russell.
