Rockets will be without injured Chris Paul for Game 6 vs. Warriors

If the Houston Rockets are to eliminate Golden State in Game 6 they’ll have to do so without point guard Chris Paul.

The team announced on Friday that Paul, who suffered a hamstring injury in the final minute of the Rockets Game 5 win, will not play Saturday.

“Chris Paul will miss Saturday’s game at Golden State with a right hamstring strain that occurred during the fourth quarter of last night’s game against the Warriors,” the statement read. “He will be re-evaluated after the team returns to Houston.”

If the Rockets win Game 6 that would give Paul a full week to recover since the NBA Finals don’t begin until Thursday.

Paul finished with 18 points as the Rockets took a 3-2 series lead in the Western Conference Finals. Paul had never advanced to a conference final prior to this season.

Kevin Durant scored just two fourth quarter points as the defending champs were pushed to the brink of elimination. Golden State had won 16 straight home playoff games before losing Game 4 on Tuesday.
