President Trump scrapped plans Thursday to attend the World Economic Forum in Switzerland later this month, complaining he has to stick stateside to deal with Democratic ”intransigence” on building a taxpayer-funded wall on the Mexican border.

Trump became the first President in nearly two decades to visit the upscale economic forum in the Swiss alp town of Davos last January, but he said he’ll have to hunker down at the White House this year to try and strong-arm Democrats into earmarking at least $5.7 billion in taxpayer cash for the border barrier he used to promise Mexico would pay for.

“Because of the Democrats intransigence on Border Security and the great importance of Safety for our Nation, I am respectfully cancelling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum,” Trump tweeted, as the government shutdown prolonged by his wall obsession dragged into its 20th day. “My warmest regards and apologies to the WEF!”
