This man needs to "calm down."

A 26-year-old New Jersey resident broke into Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island mansion on Friday, but at least he had the good sense to take off his sneakers. His orange Nikes were found just inside the house.

“I just asked him, why did you take your shoes off,” Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey told the Daily News on Wednesday. “He says, ‘my parents always said, you go in someone else’s house, you take your shoes off.' It was very bizarre, odd behavior.”

Authorities said Richard McEwan was able to smash a glass door to get inside the home, located in the Watch Hill section of Westerly. He had trekked from his hometown of Milford, N.J., Lacey said.

McEwan was charged with breaking and entering and willful trespassing, and posted bond.

A number of incidents have taken place near the “You Need To Calm Down” singer’s home, according to the police chief.

“He wasn’t going there to steal stuff, he was obviously going to see her, according to him, to get in the house,” the police chief said.

No one was home at the time of the incident. Cops are working with McEwan’s family to determine whether a mental health exam is warranted, according to the Westerly Sun, which first reported the incident.
