Police car rushing to shots fired call crashes into livery car in Brooklyn intersection

A marked police car rushing to the scene of a possible shooting slammed into a livery cab in a Brooklyn intersection Thursday afternoon, cops said.

The officers were on their way to a shots fired call shortly after noon, with its lights and sirens blaring, when they got into the crash, police said Thursday night.

The cabbie had stopped at a red light at Dekalb and Clinton Aves. in Fort Greene, and when the light turned green, the driver hit the gas without noticing the police car heading toward the intersection.

The cab driver and the officers in the cruiser suffered minor injuries.

The officers were responding to reports of a man firing a gun into the air on Flatbush and Myrtle Aves. The suspect ran off when police arrived and ditched the gun in a garbage can, but was busted a few blocks away.

His name has not been released and the charges against him are pending.
