Chinese food can save the day.

A Pennsylvania man took home $1 million last week from the New Jersey lottery after playing the numbers from an old fortune.

Ronnie Martin, who drives from Long Pond, Penn., to New Jersey every day for work, bought three Mega Millions tickets at a U.S. Gas in Hope Township on July 24, when the jackpot was up to $543 million, according to a press release.

Rather than play personal numbers, like birthdays, Martin penciled in the numbers from a fortune cookie he opened years ago.

“He liked the numbers and decided to stick with them,” the press release reads.

The next day, he returned to the store and discovered he had won $1 million by matching five of the numbers, but not the Mega Ball.

Martin said he and his wife will use their winnings to pay off the mortgage on their home and some bills before putting the rest toward their savings.
