Pastor, three parishioners, stabbed during Texas church service

Four people, including a pastor, were stabbed during a church service in Texas on Wednesday night, police said.

A special church service was being held at a home in Corpus Christi when a man stabbed the pastor in the chest, Lt. Jay Clement told the Caller-Times.

The suspect also stabbed a band member in the neck, and the two victims were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Clement said.

Two other church members were stabbed in the hand and arm when they tried to subdue the suspect, according to Clement. They are in stable condition.

The suspect, said to be a long-term parishioner in his 30s, is in custody, Clement said.

A motive remains unclear, and the attack appears to be unprovoked.
