It’s the year to tickle yourself pink.

Pantone has named “Living Coral,” a rich, deep shade of pink, as the Color of the Year 2019, in an attempt to bring attention to rapidly disappearing coral reefs due to climate change.

Officially known as PANTONE 16-1546, the color is “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge,” Pantone said in an Instagram post.

“Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, Pantone Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color,” the N.J.-based self-proclaimed authority on all things color and which has a proprietary color space widely used as a standard in print and design industries said in a statement.

The sometimes pink, sometimes red, other times orange-looking color follows 2018’s Ultaviolet and 2017’s Greenery.
