An off-duty police officer was shot six times in the parking lot of a Texas gentleman’s club late Tuesday night in an alleged road rage spat turned violent.
The officer was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after taking a spray of bullets to the torso, but is expected to survive, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said.
McManus said both the officer and the 25-year-old shooter were driving on a nearby road when the shooter accused the cop of cutting him off, leading both cars to pull off into the parking lot of the AllStars Gentlemen’s Sports Club in San Antonio.
As both men emerged from their vehicles in the jiggle joint’s lot, the shooter fired, striking the officer, an 11-year veteran of the SAPD, six times.
The officer returned fire after retrieving his weapon from his car, and hit the shooter two to three times, McManus said. A female passenger in the suspect’s car received a graze wound to the head.
