Off-duty Bronx sanitation agent shoots himself in the leg, then tells cops a gunman shot him

An off-duty Bronx sanitation agent shot himself in the leg with a stolen gun Friday, then told cops that someone else fired at him, police said.

Kai Simeon, 40, was charged with weapons possession and false reporting for claiming that he was shot in an E. Tremont Ave. parking lot in Throgs Neck, cops said.

When first responders found him bleeding on the ground around 4:30 p.m., the off-duty agent spun a tail about a gunman who was still on the loose, police said.

“He pulled out the gun and accidentally shot himself in the leg,” said a police source. “He then lied about it.”

Investigators later found the gun at the scene and discovered that it was a stolen weapon, police said.

Simeon was also charged with criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of stolen property.

His arraignment was pending Friday night.
