Ocasio-Cortez’s Republican challenger demands debate — needles her about Bronx-cred

The GOP seems to think AOC has a debate problem.

A Republican challenger to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens) demanded that the social media star agree to a debate.

Williamsbridge candidate Ruth Papazian challenged the democratic socialist star to a debate after AOC’s spokesman rebuffed another rival seeking to square-off with the congresswoman at the Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday.

“I’m a declared...registered candidate,” Papazian wrote on Twitter. “I’ll clear my calendar to debate AOC.”

There was no immediate response from AOC or spokesman Corbin Trent.

Papazian was piggybacking on the publicity-grabbing attempt by radio host Rich Valdes to corner AOC at the parade.

Trent rebuffed Valdes, prompting Papazian to throw down her own gantlet.

Papazian also reupped her barb that AOC neglects the Bronx portion of her congressional district, saying “I’ll even come downtown on the Express Bus” for the debate.

Papazian last month had campaign flyers printed up at a small Bronx shop to focus attention on the fact that AOC ordered some office supplies on Amazon.

Neither Papazian nor Valdes is considered a serious political threat to AOC in the deep-blue district she won by knocking off power broker Joe Crowley in a Democratic primary upset last year.
