A man was gunned down inside a Bronx park early Saturday, officials said.
Cops responding to an alert of shots fired found the 22-year-old victim inside Crotona Park near the park’s tennis center at about 12:15 a.m., officials said.
He had been shot in the head, back and leg, cops said. Medics rushed him to Saint Barnabas Hospital, but he could not be saved. His name was not immediately released.
No arrests have been made.
Police were brought to the park after gunshots set off the NYPD’s ShotSpotter network of state-of-the-art microphones designed to pick up the sound of gunfire, officials said.
Cops on Saturday were trying to figure out what sparked the killing and were canvassing the area for witnesses and any surveillance video that could shed light on what happened before the shooting.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
