Internet deserts in New York City are getting connected.
Access to the world wide web is coming in the form of a community-based, non-profit organization called, NYC Mesh.
Modeled after the Spanish network, Guifi, customers pay an upfront fee for equipment and installation, but there’s no monthly cost (although they do welcome donations to keep the service humming).
