A New Orleans man landed in jail — just like he wanted.
Nicholas Celius, 23, was spotted by guards at the Orleans Justice Center trying to break into the jail’s recreation yard late Monday, according to The Advocate.
Celius was able escape the jail lockdown, but left behind a backpack full of heroin, marijuana and 13 rocks of crack cocaine.
He was captured by New Orleans police and charged with drug possession and resting an officer, as well as an outstanding warrant in Dallas, according to police records.
Police believe Celius was trying to leave the drugs for an inmate inside the jail.
“The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office will continue to aggressively combat the constant efforts of individuals to introduce narcotics into the jail,” Sheriff Marlon Gussman said. “We appreciate the diligence of our staff to detect this latest threat, as well as the quick response of the New Orleans Police Department.”
Two other suspects seen fleeing outside the jail are still at large, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman told the Daily News.
