A New Jersey father was charged with child cruelty/neglect after his 10-month-old baby was spotted crawling across a busy roadway Saturday evening.
The infant was uninjured after a motorist and neighbor rescued the baby, later delivering the child to its family, WABC reported.
The baby’s father, Evgeniy Dorman, 41, surrendered at Lakewood Police Department Friday.
An oncoming motorist said he initially thought the child was a toy. When he saw the child move, he stopped his car and got out to stop traffic.
“I was riding in my work truck on my way to another job, saw something in the middle of the street, wasn’t exactly sure what it was,” Cory Cannon, 41, told WABC.
“So I started to slow my truck down, so I could slow the traffic behind me, just in case it was something that could have done damage to the car, let alone being a child,” he said.
Cannon also snapped pictures of the child, who had crawled through its home’s front door.
A neighbor collected the baby and returned it to its family.
