You won’t need your flying broomstick to take off on this ride.
New details have been released about Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, the roller coaster opening June 13 in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter section of Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure.
The attraction is named for boy wizard Harry Potter’s pal, Hagrid, a half-giant, half-man.
Guests, who must be at least 48 inches tall to board, start out by joining Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class. Fans of the books and film franchise know that that’s the course the character teaches at the fictional Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Riders then hop aboard a “magical motorbike,” choosing to take a seat either on the motorcycle or the adjacent sidecar.
The adventure takes them into the Forbidden Forest, which Universal states will be an actual forest with more than 1,200 live trees.
Of course, along the way, guests encounter rare magical creatures in the forest, from a Centaur to the terrifying three-headed dog, Fluffy.
Guests will twist, turn and zoom forward and backwards up to 50 miles per hour in the dark forest as they zip past obstacles they recognize from the movies or J. K. Rowling books.
