The Florida mother who was on trial for posting racy breastfeeding videos on YouTube has been found not guilty on all but one of more than three dozen counts.
Leigh Felten was busted in 2015 and charged with about three dozen counts, including 34 for capital sexual battery. The former piano teacher testified how she began posting how-to videos on breastfeeding which gradually became more raunchy. Later vids included genital exposure and rubdowns with oil. Prosecutors claimed there was sexual content with her own son, reported the Tallahassee Democrat.
Fighting depression and low self-esteem, Felten claimed her son’s father abandoned her. She said making the videos improved her confidence.
“Finally, I was getting attention and felt like I had some worth,” said Felten. “I’m not a monster.”
But some of her homemade movies appear to have appealed to fetish fans, including “Good Little Boy” and “Mommy’s a Whore.”
During cross-examination, Felten said she knew she was crossing a moral line not an unlawful one.
“I don’t believe it is criminal,” she testified. “Morally, it was not right. I feel like I was overcharged.”
Despite skating on 36 charges, Felten was found guilty of one count of lewd lascivious performance.
While Assistant State Attorney Lorena Vollrath-Bueno was disappointed in the verdict, she was able to find a silver lining.
“She will be facing 15 years in prison and be a registered sex offender,” said the lawyer. “I’m happy to say she lost custody of her son, and he is safe.”
