Carla Stefaniak, the Florida woman who went missing in Costa Rica last week, has reportedly been confirmed dead.

Police identified remains found near an Airbnb as Stefaniak’s, Telemundo reported Tuesday.

The remains, partially buried in plastic bags, were discovered by cadaver dogs, a spokeswoman for the agency investigating Stefaniak’s disappearance told NBC News Monday.

A local security guard has been arrested, according to Telemundo.

Stefaniak was in Costa Rica celebrating her 36th birthday, relatives said. She checked into her flight home on Nov. 28, but never boarded the plane.

Her brother, Mario Caicedo, previously told NBC that he believed she had been “kidnapped or abducted.”
