Mets stay busy and trade for Astros’ J.D. Davis

After a brief hiatus from the hot stove, Brodie Van Wagenen is heating up again.

The Mets’ pulled off their second trade in as many days, acquiring infielder J.D. Davis from the Astros in exchange for a trio of minor leaguers: Ross Adolph, Luis Santana and Scott Manea. Also on his way to Flushing is minor league infielder Cody Bohanek, the team announced on Sunday.

Davis, the main piece headed to the Mets, has torched minor league pitching, hitting .342/.406/.583. with Triple-A Fresno last season.

The third baseman capable of playing around the diamond hasn’t fared as well in the majors, though.

The 2014 third round draft pick and former top prospect, 25, suited up in 42 games for Houston last season, slashing .175/.248/.223/.471 along with just one home run and five RBI.

Van Wagenen’s latest move comes on the heels of acquiring Keon Broxton from the Brewers for some much-needed outfield depth.
