The Mets announced Tuesday that the righthander has been placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a strained ligament in his right index finger. The starter underwent an MRI at The Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan Tuesday for soreness in the finger, the team said.

This season, Syndergaard is 4-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 64.2 innings pitched, walking 13 batters and striking out 76. He last pitched Friday night in a 4-3 loss to the Brewers, surrendering six hits and three earned runs while fanning eight batters over six innings. He was scheduled to pitch Wednesday night in Atlanta against Braves starter Julio Teheran.

Syndergaard is the third Mets starting pitcher to go on the disabled list this season, after Jason Vargas (fracture) and Jacob deGrom (hyperextended elbow).

Syndergaard’s DL stint is retroactive to May 26. Wilmer Flores (lower back tightness) and AJ Ramos (rotator cuff tendinitis) were just placed on the 10-day DL Monday.
