Matt Harvey has no idea where he’ll be pitching next season. He does know where he will not be, though, that is for sure.
The pitcher formerly known as the Dark Knight took a shot at the Mets when asked about his free agency options, according to The Athletic’s C. Trent Rosencrans.
“There’s only one team out there I would not sign with, that’s about it,” Harvey said, according to the website.
You can come to your own conclusion about which team the one-time Mets ace was referring to.
Harvey was traded to the Reds in May after a stunning fall from grace in Flushing, going from revered superhero to a dispensable bullpen arm.
His tenure in New York, which began with such promise as an All-Star and the staff ace and some gritty performances in the 2015 run to the World Series, became more remembered for his penchant for partying.
When he returned to Citi Field in a Reds uniform in August, Harvey was somewhat remorseful.
“People make mistakes and I definitely made a lot of them,” Harvey said at the time.
He also said then that “it was a really fun time” playing in Flushing and that he “absolutely loved being here and playing here.”
Nevertheless, clearly the Dark Knight has no desire for a reunion with the Mets and, most likely, the feeling at this point is mutual.
