Martin Scorsese’s latest film apparently won’t be featured in as many theaters as some had hoped.
“The Irishman” will not be getting a wide release in theaters this fall after Netflix was unable to come to an agreement with theater companies AMC and Cineplex, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As a result, the highly anticipated mob drama will only open in some indie theaters on Nov. 1. It will debut on Netflix on Nov. 27.
Reps for Netflix, AMC and Cineplex did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Netflix released another movie, “Roma,” in theaters for several weeks last fall ahead of awards season.
“The Irishman” features an illustrious cast that includes Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino and Harvey Keitel.
Amid the discussions for “The Irishman,” Netflix had proposed putting the film in theaters for 30 days, according to THR. But a deal was never reached.
The movie is set to have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on Sept. 27.
