A man was hospitalized in critical condition Friday after he was shot during a clash with police on the Lower East Side, officials said.
The man was shot on Cherry St. near Pike Slip — near the foot of the Manhattan Bridge — just before 7 a.m.
After being shot, he went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he remained in critical condition, officials said. His name was not immediately disclosed.
No police officers were injured during the confrontation, officials said.
