A 27-year-old man lying on the tracks was fatally struck by a subway train in the Bronx early Thursday, officials said.
The Manhattan-bound No. 6 train was barreling into the Hunts Point Ave./Southern Blvd. station when the motorman spotted the victim lying face up on the tracks about 3:20 a.m., cops said.
He pulled the emergency brake but there was not enough time to stop the train from rolling over the victim.
The man died at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
Cops on Thursday were trying to determine if the man purposely lay down on the tracks in a suicide bid or had fallen onto them just before the train entered the station, officials said.
