Luis Severino was back on the mound at Yankee Stadium for the first time Sunday morning long before the gates were opened or Cleveland had even arrived.
The Yankees ace, who has not pitched in a game this season because of injury, threw 15 pitches to “batters,” in front of a crowd that included manager Aaron Boone and GM Brian Cashman.

“It felt good,” Severino said. “I haven’t been on a mound, a real mound, before so that was good.”
Severino is heading to Tampa Sunday night.
He will have one more simulated outing before he thinks he is ready to begin a minor league rehab game
