That whole coaching Team USA thing might have been a great chess move for Coach K after all.
LeBron “Bronny” James Jr. is in the news again, as his famous father recently took to social media to tease the idea that his son could possibly wind up playing his college ball at Duke for Mike Krzyzewski in 2023.
James commented on an ESPN post that showed a clip of Coach K defending his star freshman RJ Barrett, and the rest of his players from some recent criticism. “Love Coach K! The absolute BEST! Hope he’s still at the helm when my boy comes up,” James wrote.
James and Coach K have a strong bond, as James chose the Duke coach to be one of his presenters when he was named Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated back in 2016. Their relationship began in 2006 when James played for Coach K during his run as the head coach of USA Basketball.
LeBron James Jr. also recently posted a picture of himself wearing a Duke Basketball sweatshirt from when his summer travel team took a tour of the campus and practice facilities from when they were in town for a tournament.
James Jr. is considered to be one of the best eighth graders in the country, as he’ll suit up for Crossroads School in Santa Monica this season.
But despite all the hype that James’ comment has created, the biggest mystery in all of this is Coach K.
Because for this to happen, it means that he would still have to be on the sidelines at Duke at the age of 75.
Cross your fingers, Duke fans.
