The Lane Train continues to troll along.
Lane Kiffin is notorious for trolling fans and fellow coaches on Twitter, and the Florida Atlantic coach did not disappoint Tuesday, mocking Tennessee football’s disastrous head coaching search and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in one glorious tweet.
Kiffin posted a meme of a photoshopped image of the North Korean dictator wearing an orange Tennessee jacket with the caption, “BREAKING NEWS: Kim Jung Un has turned down the Tennessee job.”
Kiffin was clearly making fun of the fact Tennessee has struggled to find a replacement for ex-Vols coach Butch Jones in light of their train wreck of a head coaching search.
Tennessee initially had an agreement in place with ex-Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, before backing out of the deal following immense backlash from fans and Tennessee politicians as a result of Schiano’s alleged ties to the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State.
Since that controversial decision, multiple Tennessee coaching targets have reportedly turned down the job, including: Duke coach David Cutcliffe, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy and even Cowboys tight end — and former Tennessee star — Jason Witten.
Kiffin previously took to Twitter to troll fans who have been campaigning for the 42-year-old coach to return to Knoxville.
Kiffin, who served as Tennessee’s coach for one season before leaving for USC, responded to a user who shared an image of the school’s iconic “Rock” with the message, “Bring Lane Home.”
“I flew Knox there last nite to do that why u were asleep ??. Thx Knox now get back to 3rd grade class. Ur teacher just called,” Kiffin said, including a number of emojis.
Florid Atlantic is 9-3 in Kiffin’s first season at the helm and is set to face North Texas in the Conference USA championship game.
