Kyrie Irving parts ways with agent, plans to sign with Roc Nation: report

June 13, 2019

With NBA free agency on the horizon, Kyrie Irving is making changes to his representation, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Long represented by Jeff Wechsler, league sources told Wojnarowski that the Celtics point guard is planning to employ the services of Roc Nation going forward. Roc Nation, of course, is owned by Jay-Z, who was once minority owner of the Nets. Irving, who averaged 23.8 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.0 rebounds a game for Boston last season, is said to be “intensely interested” in signing with the Nets this summer.

The Nets recently dealt Allan Crabbe to Atlanta to clear out cap space in order to make a run at Irving and the recently-injured Kevin Durant.

While the Nets are said to be front-runners to sign Irving, they were not the only ones interested in a Kyrie/KD double signing: The Knicks also wanted to pull off the same move in free agency.

Now with KD on the shelf indefinitely as he recovers from surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles, it remains to be seen if that pairing will ever happen. But what is clear is that Irving is getting his ducks in a row for the fast-approaching offseason.
