The famous 1963 song talked about how “they say the neon lights are bright on Broadway” but that will ring even more true when the neon lights of Krispy Kreme flicker off and on next year on The Great White Way.
The doughnut chain — well-known for its signature original glaze — announced it will open a flagship store in Times Square in 2020.
The shop’s 4,500 square-foot retail space will be located on 48th St. and Broadway. According to the Winston Salem, N.C., headquartered chain, the new shop will serve “more guests annually than any other Krispy Kreme location in the world.”
The first of its kind flagship store will let consumers in on the doughnut making process, feature interactive digital experiences, a glaze waterfall, stadium-style seating, an exterior walkup window and exclusive Krispy Kreme merchandise.
“Our direction is to be the most loved sweet treat brand in the world,” Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation CEO and president Michael Tattersfield said Monday.
“In the most iconic city in the world, the Krispy Kreme Times Square flagship will showcase our brand on the global stage and inspire customer wonder. We love making awesome doughnuts – and New Yorkers deserve hot and fresh doughnuts!”
Founded in 1937, Krispy Kreme boasts nearly 1,400 retail shops in 33 countries.
The forthcoming Times Square location will be a welcomed reprieve for city fans of the sugary snack.
