John Jenkins, a veteran guard who played for Westchester in the G-League two seasons ago, was signed by the Knicks on Wednesday, the team announced in a press release.
Jenkins, 6-4, 215, was originally a first-round pick (23rd overall) of the Atlanta Hawks in the 2012 NBA Draft. The former Vanderbilt star bounced around between the Hawks, Mavericks and Suns during his five seasons in the NBA. He posted career averages of 5.1 points and 1.5 rebounds over 145 games, including eight starts.
Before taking his game overseas last season to play in Spain’s top division with San Pablo Inmobiliaria Burgos, Jenkins spent part of the 2016-2017 campaign in Westchester. He averaged 20.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 34.5 minutes in 16 games (15 starts).
Jenkins posted 12.7 points and 2.0 rebounds over 22.9 minutes in 22 games (16 starts) in Spain’s Liga ACB last season.
