Kevin Hart suffers ‘major back injuries’ in California car crash
Comedian Kevin Hart suffered “major back injuries” after his vintage car careened down a hill and crashed in California early Sunday, officials said.
Hart was a passenger in his own 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the driver lost control and the car went down an embankment near the Mulholland Highway in the West Valley area of Los Angeles County, according to a California Highway Patrol report obtained by the Daily News.
Hart, 40, managed to get out of the mangled vehicle and call for medical attention while the driver and another passenger remained trapped in the vehicle.
Both Hart and the driver ? identified by officials as Jared Black, 28 ? were taken to nearby hospitals after sustaining “major back injuries as a result of this collision,” the CHP said.
Black was not under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred, officials said.
The accident took place after Black turned from Cold Canyon Road onto the highway. A third person in the car ? identified as 31-year-old Rebecca Broxterman, 31 ? was not hospitalized after only complaining of pain to officials.
Hart had shared a photo of the classic sports car to his Instagram page in July, saying the vehicle was a gift for his birthday.
"I added some more muscle to the family for my 40th....welcome home ‘Menace,’ " he captioned the photo at the time.
