Kelly Clarkson ‘was freaking out’ when cyst burst on her ovary while filming ‘The Voice’

What doesn’t kill Kelly Clarkson makes her stronger.

The 37-year-old singer suffered a major medical problem while filming the NBC singing competition “The Voice,” where she’s a coach alongside other musicians like John Legend and Blake Shelton.

“Blake [Shelton] was talking to me and all of the sudden, everything he said just went away and I had to grab his arm and I was like, ‘Something is wrong,’” Clarkson recalled to People of filming “The Voice” live.

It turns out that a cyst had burst on Clarkson’s ovary just days after the “American Idol” winner underwent an emergency appendectomy immediately after hosting and singing on the Billboard Music Awards back in May.

Not only was the burst ovary “more painful than the appendicitis,” but, “It was literally a week after my surgery so I was freaking out!”

“I was hysterically laughing and crying at one point in the E.R. like 'What is happening?’” Clarkson admitted.

But, just as her hit song “Stronger” proclaims: “What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter.”

And Clarkson is “great now,” she says. “I’m totally great now.”

In addition to returning to “The Voice” when Season 17 premieres Sept. 23, she’s also set to host “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” a new syndicated variety show premiering Sept. 9
