Jurors in the case against a deadbeat husband accused of fatally choking his estranged wife nearly a decade ago started deliberations Tuesday afternoon.

After a nine-week trial, the panel is considering two counts of murder against Roderick Covlin in the Dec. 31, 2009, death of his spouse Shele, 47.

He has been charged with intentional murder and felony murder for allegedly violating an order of protection to enter her apartment — across the hall from his — for the purpose of committing an assault.

Covlin, 46, faces up to life in prison if convicted in Manhattan Supreme Court. His lawyers have argued that the DA’s case lacks any proof of his involvement and that Shele died from a freak fall in the bathtub.
