A 47-year-old bank robber pulled off two armed robberies by convincing bank tellers the avocado he was holding was a hand grenade.
The unidentified crook, described by the Times of Israel as a resident of southern Israel’s Bedouin village, reportedly made off with $8,300 after robbing a pair of banks just five days apart in May.
Armed with an avocado painted black, the produce-packing perp allegedly told the first teller, "Put the money in the bag quickly or I’ll throw this grenade.”
Though the alleged thief wore elaborate disguises including hats, sunglasses and an eye patch, cops, working off of tips, located the man by tracking his cell phone locations. His criminal record reportedly included a three-year stint for robbery.
