A subway train clipped a 47-year-old homeless man in a Harlem tunnel early Friday, leaving him with a nasty gash on the head, witnesses and officials said.
The scary incident happened in the tunnel just south of the uptown platform about 10 a.m. at 125th St. and Lexington Ave. on the 4, 5, 6 line. The victim was standing on the south end of the platform when the 6 train rushed in.
Carl Scott, an MTA employee who works in the station, says the man was rushed to Harlem hospital with a gash on his head. Incredibly, he was conscious and alert.
“They put him in a stretcher and they took him to Harlem Hospital,” Scott said. “The train hit him and he hit the wall some kind of way, and he ended up underneath.”
